Report on Indian Affairs (p. 3-10), Jan. 5, 1843, in conformity with the ninth clause of the "Act to provide for the Instruction and Permanent Settlement of the Indians." Report includes information on: statistics as of 1838 (population by county), mortality, eleemosynary relief, plans and present value of all the reserves in Nova Scotia in acres ("sterile and comparatively valueless"), settlement, assimilation, education. Includes Account Current: lists specific charities with names of recipients, amounts, and reason, and expenditures for seed / implements / cattle, education, plans and surveys, clothing, expenses, expenditures authorized but not paid.
