Form letter filled in by Philip Belnar [Bernard?] and Mary Josephine, his wife, of St. Margaret's Bay, regarding a road passing through their land. It claims they have sold over their land to the King for the sum of five pounds. Includes Philip and Mary's "hands and seals." Is worded somewhat like later treaties.

Letter from Crawley, Deputy Surveyor General, Cape Breton, to Rupert George regarding tresspasses on Mi'kmaq lands at Whycocomagh and requests for land from non-Mi'kmaq in that area. Includes note from the Lt. Gov. advising that Crawley is to be told that he approves of the arrangement proposed as far as it confirms the Mi'kmaq in possession of their land.

Letter from Doucet to Lt. Gov. James Kempt regarding the condition of Mi'kmaq at Cape Sable.

Letter from John Spry Morris to William Hill regarding trespasses by non-Mi'kmaq on Mi'kmaq lands at Malagawatch. Explains that a complaint made by Alexander McIntosh and others against Deputy W. Luce for having laid out land for them at Malagawatch that belonged to the Mi'kmaq, was actually "an ingenious story of Indian Claims" in expectation of getting some compensation.

Copy of a letter from the Rev. Mr. Trotter relative to the claims of Mi'kmaq to lands granted to McWhinnie and others at Pomquet. Describes creation of reservation, relations with adjoining non-Mi'kmaq land owners, improvements by Mi'kmaq upon the disputed lands, exception from the reservation for the Pomquet ferry, etc.

Affidavit of Thomas Trotter and John Monro certifying that they did, in April of 1824, measure the improvements made by the Mi'kmaq in lands in Pomquet granted to Colin Campbell, H.H. Cogswell, and William Mcwhinnie and found said improvements to be 3 1/2 acres, more or less shown in the attached plan (map). On the same page is the recommendation of the Justices of the Peace for the area to allow the Mi'kmaq 150 acres instead of 100 acres for firewood.
