Resolution for referring the petition of the Adjutant-General of the militia to a committee "and that that Committee be directed by the House to call upon the Adjutant Gen’l for an Acct. of the Expences incurred by him in the Exn. of the said Office."

Petition of Rufus G. Taylor, Rufus Fairbanks and John Osborn, merchants of Halifax, praying for a drawback of the sunk duty on coffee imported from St. Domingo and exported to Great Britain, under special circumstances. Also Minutes of the Commissioners of the Revenue respecting cargos imported from St. Domingo for exportation.

"Whereas many Members have already left the House and returned home and several others have applied for leave and the distance by water to the Homes make it expedient that such leave should be granted them by reason whereof the House will not be well attended, Therefore resolved that no Question or subject will has been discussed and determined this Session shall be again altered or discussed and no new Business shall be introduced this Sessions without the Assent of three fourths of the Members then present." 16 December 1808

Memorial of G. H. Monk and Brenton Halliburton, Assistant Justices in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, stating their need of an augmentation of their salary. The prices of nearly every necessity of life having risen greatly since the salaries were established, the "support of that Independence which is necessary to the administration of Justice" requires that the salaries be made more competent so as "to render the situation an eligible preferment to Gentlemen of professional Abilities. The salaries of the assistant justices in New Brunswick has been increased by £200." (As in Vol. 287, no 176). Signed. Recommended by the President.
