Memorial of G. H. Monk and Brenton Halliburton, Assistant Justices in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, stating their need of an augmentation of their salary. The prices of nearly every necessity of life having risen greatly since the salaries were established, the "support of that Independence which is necessary to the administration of Justice" requires that the salaries be made more competent so as "to render the situation an eligible preferment to Gentlemen of professional Abilities. The salaries of the assistant justices in New Brunswick has been increased by £200." (As in Vol. 287, no 176). Signed. Recommended by the President.
