Michael Tobin and Samuel Cunard to Dalhousie, reporting on monies which they were given to relieve the distresses of immigrants. After sending 89 of them settlers who arrived from Newfoundland in December 1817 to various parts of the province, they established a soup house in Halifax, which daily fed about 500 people who would otherwise have starved. If £200 could be procured it would maintain the soup house as long as it would be needed. Signed. (Enclosed in No. 122)
