Amendment proposed by the Council to be made to the Appropriation bill, which the Assembly refused to consider. The amendment proposed is a change in the appropriation for the pay of the members, substituting for a lump sum voted by the Assembly an allowance of 10 shillings per day during the session and fourpence a mile for the distance they traveled to reach Halifax.

"Resolved unanimously That the House of Assembly in refusing to consider the Amendment proposed by His Majesty’s Council to the Act of Appropriation exercised their Constitutional right and did not assume a power which they do not possess. Resolved unanimously that this House can never admit it to be the right of his Majesty’s Council to amend a Money Bill." (Printed in extenso, Journal p. 26)
