''We are so totally secluded the possibility of any political knowledge that we are in doubt whether or not an evacuation of this place will be determined on & executed this or the succeeding year. Should our wishes be answered the business of next will be the evacuation, as I can't conceive Nova Scotia can be the most elegible place in Winter, particularly for those, who are not provided in the most compleat manner with the requisites for that Climate, which is the situation of numbers in the place, in whose distresses I am certain you sympathize.''
