Note: Film chronicles activities of Halifax-area fire departments in the 1960s. Begins with footage of the 1967 opening of the new Sackville Fire Hall, followed by footage of the Bedford and Sackville fire departments battling a huge blaze at 'MacDonald's Save Easy', and the Spryfield, Fairview, and Armdale fire departments fighting a fire at West Armdale School. Also film of [1964] Fire Safety Parade [at Sackville Downs] and a fire man's sports day at the same location several years later.

Note: This film records a variety of fire-fighting exercises conducted by members of the Sackville and District Fire Department [in the 1960s], consisting mainly of extinguishing deliberately set fires in old buildings. There is also a long sequence shot at the Halifax County Fire Chief's Association's Training School [in Waverley, N.S.], in which fire fighters from various County departments extinguish blazes in an old truck and a nearby building, and practice first aid on a mock 'victim', while family members watch.
