Note: This drama tells the story of the 1835 trial of Joseph HOWE. HOWE had been charged with seditious libel after printing (in his newspaper, 'The Novascotian') a letter written by George THOMPSON that exposed the corruption of the Halifax Magistrates. HOWE defended himself after no lawyer would take his case. He went on to win the trial.
