Letter from John Hughes to John Warwick and P. Wiswall, members for Annapolis County, informing the public through them "that in consequence of one or Two Acres of soft wood now standing on Briar Island, that all Vessels that make a strait course from Yarmouth through the Grand Passage is prevented from having the benefit of the Light, and if the said Woods are cut down the Light may be seen at Cape St. Mary’s, but as it now is, it cannot be seen unless you are some distance from the Land." Important to coasting craft. "Some persons below have requested me to state the Necessity of some Public Money on the road between Little River and Petite Passage."

Petition of the Magistrates and Grand Jury for Halifax County, "That the great increase of Tavern Licences have in great degree being owing to the trifling tax of Six Pounds per Annum; and as many evils are produced, and as one among the greatest is the Poor House filled with Paupers, from the excessive use of liquors", they recommend an increase in the tax.
