1394. Deane White to his brother Cornelius, in receipt of letter. There is plenty of coal in town, and it will be cheaper. "I think Fleiger stands a good chance of Making a large sum as he has purchased / agreeable to Bond / to a large extent of Timbered land & Millsights He will write me as soon as he sees what is to be done there & if anything can be done with Shelburne lands I would like you to Make some purchases either in Flieger or My own Name - think of this, and look round - thousands of pounds have been recd. for lands that five weeks ago would not have brought at many shillings - Flieger has given from 7½d to 5/ pr. acre The Governor has forbidden the sale of any more Crown land at private sale." Comments upon a "hubub" in the Customs in Halifax. Holograph.
