Piers note: Portraits of Military Officers: Portrait Group of Officer and his family (same as in No. 392) with four gentlemen in civilian costume; believed to be Lt. General Sir William O'Grady Haly and family, with friends (his aide not present); seated by trees and shrubs of a country house at Halifax. The older gentleman with side-whiskers, standing at left, is evidently Assistant Commissary General of Ordnance Anthony Sutton Beswick who is shown in carriage in front of his residence in No. 400. He was born 10 April 1827, and was Assistant Commissary General of Ordnance at Halifax from about 1877 to about 1880 (was here in General Haly's time).
