York Redoubt

Piers note: No. 287. York Redoubt: Interior of Middle Western Section of the work, near the West Gate; showing in foreground Brick Building containing store for field forge, coal store, cook-house, wash-house, and bread (?) store; with, in background, the loopholed West Wall and West Gate, and Duke of York's Tower with its attached caponier-like flanking structure at right. Two large tripod gyns in left foreground, and to right is corner of ironstone Artillery Store with small wooden Latrine close to wall. Outside wall are pointed roofs of about 4 wooden construction sheds. About 1881. Looking Northwest from East parapet, at interval between numbers 4 and 5 9-inch R.M.L. Guns.
