Synopsis – a romance set along the Nova Scotia coast in which William Pennland has a flirtatious relationship with Hagar, a beautiful girl of mixed blood. Eventually Hagar discovers that Pennland is married and abandons him on a barren island. He dies, but Hagar and Pennland's wife, Charity, become friends.
