'An East Coast Port': Halifax in Wartime, 1939-1945

The Atlantic Gazetteer and Industrial Directory of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island 1939, p. 187, described the universities in Halifax:

"As an educational centre, Halifax is world renowned. Here are located Dalhousie University with which are now associated King's College and the Halifax Medical College. Courses are given in Arts, Science, Medicine, Theology, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Law. The new campus on Cobourg [Coburg] Road has a number of fine buildings, erected largely through the beneficence and gifts to the University by the late Mrs. E.B. Eddy. Dr. Carleton Stanley is president of Dalhousie University..."
