Lovell's Province of Nova Scotia Directory for 1871, p. 277, lists the residents of Kempt Head, Kempt Road, Kemptown, Kennetcook Corner, Kents Island and Kentville. Provincial directories are organized in one of three ways: (1) by county, community within county, and then alphabetical by name of adult resident and occupation; (2) by community, then alphabetical by name of adult resident and occupation within each community; and (3) alphabetical by name of adult resident, occupation, and community of residence within each county with a separate alphabetical sections for adult residents of principal towns in each county.
