"C. of E. [Church of England], Arichat, Isle Madame"

A meeting was held to build an Anglican Church in Arichat in 1825. St. John's Anglican Church was under construction two years later. Rev. Willliam Shaw, the first rector of the newly-created parish, arrived in Arichat in 1828. The Geological Survey Map, 1884, identifies the Church of England, Roman Catholic Church, Convent, Court House, Hotel, Telegraph Office and Post Office in Arichat
