Windsor, NS, After the Fire of 17 October, 1897

Many Nova Scotian communities have experience at least one devastating fire in their history. “The Great Fire of 1897" occurred in Windsor on Sunday, 17 October.

A strong northwesterly gale of almost hurricane force unfortunately aided the fire. Cinders fell as far away as Shubenacadie and smoke was visible seventy miles away.
