Certificate of manumission for 'James', a four month old "mulatto child"

Certificate was originally issued by Enoch Plummer, Lieutenant of the 69th Regiment of Foot. He has "manumitted, enfranchised and set at liberty" the infant son of his slave 'Rose', "in consideration of [her] faithful services...and other good causes and considerations..."

Date: Recorded in orderly book at Halifax, October or November 1783
