The Royal Engineers in Halifax

Piers note: No. 176. York Redoubt: Exterior of East Front, showing particularly the East Caponier (completed) and the rough Ditch, and a little of the Escarp; in distance is Fort Clarence (with Tower) to left, and McNab's Island from Ives Point to near the Hangman's House. 1877. Looking North-northeast towards Ives Point Battery. The caponier is completed, and the shed which had a hoisting engine has evidently gone.
