The Royal Engineers in Halifax

Piers note: No. 256. York Redoubt: Position Hill, distant view, showing its relationship to the south end of York Redoubt. To left is part of loopholed West Wall (gorge of the work) and loopholed South Caponier with flanks of High Wall at its rear; then bushy part concealing the Stockade to the Main Magazine, which last can be barely detected about 1¾ inch from right margin of view, under Position Hill.
