Spoils of War: Privateering in Nova Scotia

Naval vessels intercept American traders offshore

Because of their large size and inability to manoeuvre quickly, Royal Navy vessels such as La Hogue patrolled further offshore than craft like the nimble little Liverpool Packet, which became a plague to American coastal shipping.
