The Nova Scotia Archives Photographic Collection brings together thousands of photographs collected over decades – now all available and searchable online. Most of the 9,300 images, accessible through this part of our website, are single photos collected by the archives from its opening in the 1930s until the 1970s. Most of these photos were mounted on cardboard, sometimes annotated with notes and additional information, and arranged in the 18 categories that you now see in the navigation menu to the right.
While this represents only a portion of the Archives’ photographic collection, it is a unique resource in its variety and added information. Other online photographic collections include: the Notman Studio, Nova Scotia Information Service and the Tom Connors 'Old Sport' collection. Our virtual archives lists what we have digitized online to date.
