Mentions purchase of logs off one lot by Josiah Harris who bought it from a Mi'kmaq. Unidentified Mi'kmaq later forfeited lot by not clearing within three years. Location unidentified. Mentions fire at camp of Louie Meuse.

Letter from Nicholl to Joseph Howe requesting that all correspondence to him be sent to Digby. Howe's letters to Nicholl keep getting lost. Report on activity at Bear River. Requests agricultural supplies of seeds, grain etc.

Letter from Joseph Howe to Nicholl denying relief to Louie Meuse for his burnt camp. Gives permission to a white farmer to take crops off the Knockwood land as long as he knows that doing so sets up no claim to the land. Distribution of supplies for farming.

Letter of Patrick Gough of Liverpool to Rev. C. Doyle of Chester reporting on the progress of Mi'kmaq pupils in his school. "One of them named John Noel Williams declares that he will continue going to school until such time as he shall be competent to write to Government requesting a remission of the fine imposed on him by the Magistrates for catching salmon in Port Medway River."

Return of the names of Mi'kmaq scholars taught in the school district of Bristol in the County of Queens whereof Patrick Gough is the teacher.

Letter from Thomas Irwin of Charlottetown to Joseph Howe regarding the Mi'kmaq grammer textbook he wrote; appears to tie arguments regarding Mi'kmaq education to treaty rights. Includes Howe's letter of response noting that the treaties are preserved in Council Minutes; he argues that treaty rights may have been forfeited.
