Horton June 6th.1801
Gentlemen
In answer to your Letter of the 23rd of January [sett?] principally containing Several Queries respecting Indians. I now beg leave to [transmit?] you the best information in my power _
1 The number of Indians [are Generally - crossed out] who usually resort to Kings County & that Generally reside here are [parpicularly?] mentioned in the Paper Annexd_
2 I do not Know of any Principal among any of the Indians in this County.
3 Several Families [show?] a disposition to Settle in this County [and are - crossed out] they have no particular Trades. they are all particularly named in the paper annexd
4 I believe here is no White Man in Horton or Cornwallis that can speak the Indian Language. When I was about 17 years of age, with the aid of the French Language could Speak Enough of their Language to [Traffick?] with them a part of which I still retain. many persons may have an influence with the Indians while they feed and
