11th June 1766 - C. 589
The Commander in Chief laid before the Council
[an address?] from the House of Assembly setting [forth] the
inability of the Province Funds to supply a [sum] of
money for purchasing the Presents for which the [several]
[Tribes] of Indians had lately applied - And it was
advised that a list of necessary presents be laid before
the Council, and directions given for the purchase of [them]
of which information should be given to the Lords of
Trade and to desire their leave to draw on the [?Board]
for the expense.

17th August 1778 - D 443 -
Roman Catholic Priest from Canada allowed
£100 a year , - and £100 paid to Mr_
Franklin to purchase presents for Indians.

6th Novr_1778 D 446 -
Expenses of presents given by Mr _Franklin to
Indians, amounting to £537-2-6 - ordered
to be paid out of Treasury, and application to be
made to the Secretary of State, for reimbursement.
