To His Excellency Sir Colin Campbell Commander in Chief in and over His Majestys Province of Nova Scotia &c &c &c
The Petition of John Quinlan and Samuel Irwin Humbly Sheweth
That your Petitioners are Located and settled on Long Island situate on the Roseway River about eleven Miles from the Town of Shelburne. That your Petioners [Petitioners] have resided there about eighteen years That there is a certain Tract of Meadow Land forming a Projection on the North East Point of the said Island which formed the principal inducement for your Petitioners to make their settlement in consequence of its being represented to them that the same was reserved for the common use or benefit of the Settlers on the said Island during the Administration and by His Excellency The Earl of Dalhousie. That your Petitioners have had on or about Ten Acres of the said Meadow under Fence and in Possession this eighteen Years. and that there is about Thirty Acres of Meadow now in Possession of an Indian named Joseph [?Alexie] from which Hay may be made to keep thirty Head of Cattle
That Your Petitioners never interfered with the said Indians Possessions We your Petitioners have made application to John Spry Morris Esquire wishing to purchase the said Tract or Piece of Meadow that we have in Possession wishing to have the same free from
