Sir,
I have laid before Secretary Sir
Robert Peel, your further letter of the
[6th] instant relative to the case of
Peter Paul,; and I am to acquaint you
for the information of Sir George
Murray, that under the circumstances
therein stated, Sir Robert Peel has
felt himself warranted in advising
His Majesty to commute the Prisoners
Sentence to two years Imprisonment,
a Warrant for which
Purpose is herewith enclosed. But
if the Lt. Governor of Nova
Scotia considering the peculiar
circumstances of this case should
be of opinion, that a shorter Term
of Imprisonment will satisfy the
[RW.] [Hay].
