Indians will be stationary until that desirable event takes
place- When I was [desired?] to give my opinion on
the best mode of securing land for the use of these unfortunate
children of the Forest , I proposed to vest it in the hands
of Trustees, for which there is a precedent in the Grant of
an Island in the Bras d'ors for a Chapel for the benefit of
these very people - It would not be safe to place land
at their entire disposal; they would be cheated of the
greater part in less than twelve months-

There can be little doubt that this unhappy race
will melt away before the fires that are lighted up by
the [agriculturist], but it would be [barbarous?] not to give
the original owners of the soil a chance of living by
the means that threaten their [dissolution?]_

Sir James Kempt admitted this reasoning, Sir Peregrine
is of the same opinion and [where?] the Honorable Committee
take the matter into their serious consideration
they will, doubtless recommend measures to ameliorate
the condition and [retard?] the extirpation of the
unoffending Aborigines-

The Licence and Deed will be given
