'An East Coast Port': Halifax in Wartime, 1939-1945

Rescue Squad and First Aiders at a building on Isleville Street near Gottingen Street

" 'Wounded removed' - A rescue squad, in black with white helmets, and first aiders in light grey, are shown working together completing a 'rescue' from the second storey of a building on Isleville Street, near Gottingen Street, just one of the numerous 'incidents' in last night's A.R.P. demonstration. Directed by a warden (not shown) the rescue squad ran up their ladder, rigged a block and tackle, and made a four-cornered sling for the 'wounded' man on the second floor."
