The Halifax Chronicle-Herald, 11 May 1951, included a quarter century history of radio station CHNS. The newspaper reported programs were more serious but informal in the early years. Most were music or educational programs with public events and sports contest broadcasting. Artists were not paid because they were glad to have the publicity afforded by the new medium of radio.
