          Halifax Octr 26th/26
          Annapolis
Mr Dear Eason
You know you are roundly & soundly
in my debt, one letter, you never answered my last
one & therefore I have given direction to the sheriff
who takes this to Annapolis, to have burned in the [hart?]
with a piece of Ice next Xmas day — I forgive you
on the terms of hearing from you immediately, and
letting me know how all your family are. —
I am now tolerably well acquainted with Halifax & have
set my eye on one of two dogs — there is one particular
which if I get will be a tremendous fellow, he is very
courageous I know as I have seen him tried, but I also
know that many dogs that will fight other dogs &
win take often by the Head, wont take moose;
however we must get 3 or 4 dogs & it will be hard
if we don't get a good one amongst them — if I
could have got an opportunity during the early part
of this month if any one going up who had a spare
seat in a waggon I would have gone up to see you for
a few days, but the roads are now growing bad &
I am somewhat busier now than I was then, so that
I believe I must defer my visit to you until a good
