Lettre de William Easson, de Londres, à son père John Easson
Family and business news; William is in London but not faring well; he has had to borrow money from a cousin. His father is in Boston and has been forced to remain there for the winter. William has heard that his father has purchased an expensive silver chocolate pot as a present for his [William's] brother, David Easson, and is upset: "as you are situated at this time Eleven pounds in money would be of more material use to you than a Silver Chocolate Pot in my Brother’s House where there is furniture enough & not much use for such as that…" 18 January 1772. 4 pages : 30 x 36 cm. Honored Father
I received with pleasure your kind Letter
per Capt. Chambers of the 29th October & no opportunity from
hence since you sailed, I am very happy to know you got
safe to Boston, but sorry that you are Necessitated to
Winter there, which must as you write be a great expence to
you, a few Days after you Sailed, Mr Fenwick Arrived from
Barbadoes & I had the pleasure of Dining with him at
his Mothers at Dulwich, he desired I would see him as often
time would permit, was sorry he had not seen you, I
mentioned Capt. Bruce to him & asked him if he had
mentioned any thing to him of the £80.0d that he owes
to you, & told Mr F the circumstance, but Capt B had
mentioned nothing of it to him but Mr Fenwick
says he expects Capt Bruce will soon be in London & I wish
he may. I am very sorry to find that there is three Ge [guineas]
of your Passage money to London still Due to Capt Collier
by your Note of hand, which Mrs Collier sent to me
for payment, & the more so that I am not able to pay
