Food, Drink and the Pleasures of Eating in Old-Time Nova Scotia

Egg Toast, Hot Lemonade, Carrot Pudding

The McQueen, Lowden family fonds has minutes of meetings, 1868-1870, and treasurer's book, 1868-1869, of Mayflower Juvenile Lodge, Sons of Temperance, Sutherland's River, Pictou County. The treasurer's book includes household hints and recipes for mashed potatoes, egg toast, hot lemonade, suet pudding, frosting, and one, two, three, four cake. There is also a recipe for wine which one would think is a somewhat peculiar recipe to find in a juvenile temperance lodge record book!

Date: ca. 1869
