"One of the oldest rowing clubs in Halifax and the new boat house. It began its history in 1871. The Lorne Club will shortly disappear - to be torn down by Charles Grey, the 'house wrecker'. This club developed fine oarsmen in the years gone by. They always gave the public good regattas and always on a Saturday.
