H.W. Hopkins, Civil Engineer, compiled this atlas from actual surveys and records. The Atlas identifies buildings, green spaces and wharves on the peninsula of Halifax, and also identifies the civic addresses of individual buildings in 1878.
The buildings are colour-coded for building materials -- pink for brick or stone buildings and beige for wood frame buildings. It is similar to fire insurance plans.
