Queen Anne Revival or High Victorian Eclectic and Shingle Style buildings, 1880-1905, include the following characteristics:
- wood, brick, stucco or stone construction or some combination thereof
- Three storeys
- complex steeply pitched roofs (combination of hip and gabled) often covered with patterned shingles
- centered or off-centered doorways, asymmetrical facade
- towers and projecting bays, and receding verandas
