Recommends that urgent representations made from four British North American provinces that no alterations in the duties on foreign wood imported into England be made. Signed. Memorandum on consternation in British colonies caused by fear of timber duties being extended to colonial timber. Grounds for consternation seem to be letter from Committee of Privy Council for Trade apparently to London Committee of Trade, a copy of which follows the memorandum. Letter states that there is no change in timber duties for present year but Govt. "are of opinion that the extension of the duty to the Timber imported from the North American Colonies equal in amount to the additional duty imposed on foreign Timber in 1813, would be productive to the revenue without being prejudicial to the great interest concerned.

Message from Lieutenant Governor to Assembly, communicating to them a letter from Goulburn (Under-sec'y), stating that provincial act for encouraging gypsum trade has been approved. Also transmits letter from administrator of New Brunswick government and proclamation to put said Act in force in New Brunswick Also letter from Bathurst asking for suggestions respecting difficulties experienced by recent settlers in province and means of relieving them, since "it is and object of His Majesty's Government to augment the population of Nova Scotia by the Settlement of Emigrants on the ungranted lands."
