R. Cumberland to the Committee of Correspondence. Referring to a grant for building churches, he thinks it will be made if he is instructed to ask for it. Proposed founding of a bishopric is confirmed. He hopes that whale fishing will be successful, and that the prices which your early adventures have met with will encourage the parties engaged in that important fishery to extend their undertakings, and to meet their rivals now settled at Dunkirk with all those advantages which the superiority of a London market over all others, and the operation of our Aliens' Duty encourages them to avail themselves of".
