Nova Scotia House of Assembly Petitions and Correspondence

22 February 1813

Petition of Hugh Denoon and other inhabitants of Merigomish, Pictou and the north shore, asking further aid from the legislature towards completing the pier from Arisaig Point. They hope "as the foundation of so useful a work is laid, and its solid benefits experienced, by so large a portion of his Majesty’s Loyal Subjects, that the Legislature will not be induced to withdraw its aid, on unfounded suggestions made by persons under the influence of prejudice or wholly incompetent to give a correct opinion of the importance and utility of this beneficial Establishment." Signed with 40 names and "official orders from all the Inhabitants alongst the Coast from Marygomish to the extreme point of Cape George."
