Report of the committee who attended the Lieut.-Governor on the subject of making the Briar Island lighthouse of wood instead of stone. "His Excellency was pleased to say that he preferred stone for all Public builds but in consideration of the Present State of the Province and as he was desirous to meet the wishes of the House of Assembly, he would relinquish the Plan for a stone building and would take the proper Steps for Erecting a LightHouse of Wood on the said Island." New Brunswick was not to have any control over the lighthouse. (Draft)
