African Nova Scotians in the Age of Slavery and Abolition

Passport and certificate of John Williams, 19 April 1783

Passport, originally issued at New York, gives John Williams "permission to go to Nova Scotia, or wherever else he may think proper." Williams had crossed over into British military lines and was employed with the Corps of Engineers.
