Letter from Nicholl to James Holdsworth regarding the clearing of logs off 1000 acres mentioned in a letter of 30 December (not in volume). Mentions purchase of logs off one lot by Josiah Harris who bought it from a Mi'kmaq. Unidentified Mi'kmaq later forfeited lot by not clearing within three years. Location unidentified. Mentions fire at camp of Louie Meuse.

You will no doubt be sorry to hear that [Louie?[ Meuse whom who will remember assisted the poor Scotchman, has had his camp burnt; he and his family had been out all day, and in the evening he made a fire, and went to his father's to fetch his Children, when the camp caught fire; he was able to save some of his things, but lost some of his own and the Childrens clothes his cooking utensils and his tools for coopering. Probably Mr. Howe may think him deserving of some assistance, as he is very industrious and has a spirit above begging. I must beg you to pardon me for tresspassing so much on your time and
