from Stewiacke and as far as it is already settled the soil is of a good quality. But on the other hand accounts which I have obtained respecting it do not coincide, and those received from the best informed are the most unfavourable. But the fact is I know of no person that has ever been on it for the purpose of ascertaining its quality. If however it be a desireable [desirable] object to have good hunting ground contigious to the proposed settlement there could not perhaps be a more suitable locality in this respect in the Province. The land lying to the South abounds at present with the Moose, Carriboo and Martin, and it is there that our Indians cheifly hunt when they are camped in this settlement.
I am sorry that my information with respect to the soil is not more definite but better information I believe cannot be obtained untill the land is further explored.
