Bear River Nov. 2, -1842.
Dear Sir
If you will endeavour to form a class
of the Bear River Indian Children or Adults,
sending me from time to time their Copy Books
and a certificate signed by the Revd. Mr.
Godfrey stating the progress made in Read-
ing and Arithmetic. I will pay you for each
scholar 10s per Quarter, or 40s by the year.
Will you also purchase at the lowest rate
a good pair of working oxen for the use of the
Indians, not to exceed £14, drawing upon me
for the amount, and taking a Bill of Sale in
my name. These you will please deliver to the
Indians, or such of them as are prepared to feed,
and want to work them, for such periods of
time and under such regulations as you may
deem best for their interest.

Will you also purchase and deliver to Francis
Glode, an axe, a spade, a hoe, and a hack, -
and give to Norval Toney an axe.
Will you also purchase and deliver to Matthew
Picton a good Milk Cow, drawing upon me
for the cost of the Cow and Tools.
