Gov. on expenditures of the Department of Indian Affairs, monies lent to Joseph Baptiste of Pomquet to allow him to build a house for his family, agriculture among the Mi'kmaq and the harassment of Mi'kmaq by whites on reserved land in Lunenburg.

The want of prompt action in matters concerning Indian Lands is much felt -
I find that my endeavours to induce the Indians to turn their attention to agricultural pursuits are [sorely?] thwarted by the procrastination of the settlement of this [question?]
Three families who have labored on a reserve in Lunenburgh? County. I fear are about to abandon their grounds seeing that from the Boundary line not have been properly defined years ago they are subject to all kinds of annoyance by trespasses. This matter was brought to the notice of the proper authorities last July and still remains in an unsettled state
