upon the lot, & those who had made
partial clearances but living upon
adjoining lots.

Some of the former had occupied
for upwards of twenty years.
No valuations were set upon their
improvements.

There remain, in my Judgment,
but two courses open for remedy -
the one to dispossess these Intruders
altogether, which would require
the interposition of the Attorney
General, & the other to enter into a
compromise, requiring payment of
the value of the Land in its original
or present state.

Adopting either of these courses
will involve some expense, as it will
be necessary to ask the assistance
of the Surveyor of the County, or
some other competent person to
proceed to the spot, & communicate
with the Settlers & those who have
made improvements_ or in the
other alternative to furnish all
necessary information for the
Attorney General, and give the
necessary notices to quit.-
