Department of Crown Lands
Halifax - Augt. 12. 1858

Sir

I have the honor to acknowledge
the receipt of your letter of the 11th
instt. with reference to recent intrusions
upon the Indian Reserves at Waga =
= matcook in the county of Victoria.-
Your previous communication
on the subject of the Indian Reserves
generally, had prompted my enquiry
into their history & present state,
& as I had proposed to commence
with the tract above mentioned .4504 as[acres]
being the most valuable - I am
from the information derived from
Reports & Plans in this office better
prepared to submit my views with
respect to it, & to ask for the authority
of the Executive to carry them out -
if approved.
In 1854 a Special Report
was made by the Surveyor of the
County as to the number of Intruders
naming those who were actually living

The Hon:
The Provincial Secretary
