Spoils of War: Privateering in Nova Scotia

Charles Mary Wentworth returns with Spanish prizes

With regular trade into the Caribbean becoming ever more difficult, Liverpool merchants, headed by Simeon Perkins, built the ship Charles Mary Wentworth and sent her to sea as a privateer in 1799-1800. Most of her cruises proved financially successful.
