Spoils of War: Privateering in Nova Scotia

News of Admiral Nelson's victory

Halifax celebrated wildly when it heard of Nelson's triumph over the French fleet at the Nile. Similar joy greeted the news of Nelson's victory at Trafalgar in 1805. But the rising might of French land forces under Napoleon meant that war would continue for years.
